The Kontar™ Control System is comprised of up to 32
Kontar™ Kontrollers™ daisy chainable to form an RS485-based network. One of these palm-sized
controllers is configured as a master controller, equipped with an Ethernet
access card and connected through an access point (DSL, cable, GPRS or CDMA
modem) to the Internet.
As soon as a new control system is installed and registered with the
Arecont Global Hub, it begins regularly sending
"heart beats", letting the Hub know it is functioning normally. It is from this
connection that these Kontrollers may be monitored or sent instructions;
however each Kontroller operates completely autonomously regardless of whether
the Global Hub remains connected.
Whenever a client connects to the
Arecont Global Hub
and accesses their site for monitoring and control, the Hub establishes a
session with the chosen control system. Once a session is established, a
complete set of variables and parameters associated with this particular system
is continually sent to the client. Along with the session, ActiveX™ files are
forwarded to the client which are used to generate the Arecont SCADA
environment in the client's browser.
All user changes to any control parameters (setpoints, schedulers, etc.) are
registered in the database and sent to the Kontroller. After the new values
have been written into the controller memory, the control system sends a
receipt back to the Hub. This way the client can be absolutely sure that the
necessary changes were implemented.
If an alarm is generated in a control system, the proper information is
automatically sent to the
Arecont Global Hub.
The database registers the information with a time stamp and sends it to the
specified client via e-mail, or SMS cellular or pager text messaging as soon as
this information is processed by the Hub. User can access all alarm records via
the SCADA interface. This interface also allows administration of notification
rules as well as acknowledgment of active alarms. Any acknowledgement to the
alarm is sent back to the Hub and registered in the database with time stamp
and personal ID.
