MC8 is a versatile universal fully programmable control module. It can be configured as a master or a slave. It has in overall 22 Inputs/Outputs and may be equipped with a variety of communication modules:

  - Ethernet module for connecting to LAN or/and WAN;
  - RS232 Module for connecting a local computing device or a local display;
  - GPRS/CDMA module for connecting a wireless cell phone modem;
  - SMS module for connecting a SMS modem;
  - LON module for incorporating LON compatible devices;

MC8 can be configured as a stand-alone controller, or as one of many controllers (up to 32) that are assembled into a local RS-485 based network or a complex hierarchical system (See Kontar™ System Architecture). MC8 is able to collect data from various sources (temperature, pressure, level sensors, electricity meters, etc.) with high precision, process this information and generate analog and digital outputs to process equipment.

Process variables and parameters can be passed to other controllers and up to the next levels including LON, Ethernet based LAN and Internet. On the other hand, parameters and commands can be sent to MC8 control module from any other module on the net, local computer or from any computing device connected to Internet anywhere in the world.
